Treasure Hunting is a tool to help ‘the church’ get out into their communities with confidence and pray for people on the streets! It’s about taking the power of the gospel and the power of the Holy Spirit out of our buildings and into our communities!
We start by asking God to give us clues to identify treasure (people). The clues may be colours, items of clothing, shops, streets or names. We write these down and discuss our clues in groups. Then we ask God to show us where to go. It is just like treasure hunting as we seek to find the clues God has given us and look for the treasure. Once we identify the treasure we approach them, explain that God has highlighted them to us and offer to pray for any needs they may have.
Since the training day back in October 2009 we have continued to go out monthly with the youth and anyone else that wants to come. Our desire is to see all the people in our area or as many as possible have a God encounter on the streets – receive prayer, healing, a blessing or Jesus as their Saviour!
We believe God has called all His children to bring heaven to earth (Mt.6:10) through our lives and by who we are. We carry His presence (1Cor.6:19) and want to release it wherever we ‘go’! We desire to see the culture around us and in our town reflect that of heaven more and more as we carry & release His Presence! Kingdom culture is what we want to cultivate!
We are on an amazing journey and continue to grow as we step out in boldness, risk it and release the presence of Jesus on the streets. As we have shared the testimonies of what we’ve seen and been a part of we have seen many other believers get inspired by what God is doing in and through us!
We have seen unbelievers and sceptical believers come out with us and get set on fire for Jesus as they see God faithfully show up as we risk it on the streets!
A visual peek of what we get up to.
