The word Gospel simply means ‘good news’ and that is what relationship with Jesus is all about. We believe that the good news of Jesus is the best news you could EVER receive!
God created us and has a plan and purpose for our lives that can only be truly fulfilled when we’re in relationship with Him. God’s heart is that we should be free to live as He intended us to and to live our lives to the full (Jn.10:10).
The problem is that most live for ‘self’ and only mention God when blaming Him for something bad that’s happened or when in desperation they offer up a prayer of hope. The Bible tells us the truth is that we all have fallen short of the mark, messed up, lived for ‘self’ (sinned) and need Jesus (Rom.3:23-24) to help restore our relationship with God and get us back on track living as He created us to.
The Bible tells us that to take advantage of this good news we need Jesus (Jn.14:6), who is the Son of God (Lk.3:22), as he paid the price for us missing the mark and he is the way back to living as God intended. We need to acknowledge we’ve missed the mark, confess it and believe Jesus forgives us completely (1Jn.1:9).
When we surrender our lives to Jesus and allow Him in we become ‘new creatures’ (2Cor.5:17), which means we let the old life go – the old desires, old thoughts and old ways of behaving - and receive the new – His desires, His thoughts and His way of behaving. It’s by the power of the Holy Spirit living in us (1Cor.3:16) that we can live this new life, free from the old (Rom.8:2), and live it to the full (Jn.10:10) as God created us to. It also means death no longer has a hold over us as relationship with God is eternal (2Cor.5:1).
Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil (1Jn.3:8), which are death & destruction, and came to bring the ‘good news’ of life, hope, freedom & healing. He also called us to live as he did (Mt.10:7-8) by sharing this ‘good news’, healing the sick, raising the dead & setting people free. This is the challenge we face!
If you do not have relationship with Jesus, but would like to, having read the above, pray the Salvation Prayer followed by the Holy Spirit Prayer, then drop us an e-mail letting us know as we’d love to help get you connected to other believers whether that be ourselves or someone closer to you.
